SOPA, PIPA Act of Virtual Tyranny

The Internet has been around for quite a while now, and has provided the human race with countless benefits such as entertainment, information, communication, etc...... It is what we spend a great deal of time using. The internet is almost like another world.

Recently though the U.S. government has been trying to unleash a devastating bill that would destroy our virtual world wide web, and by world wide web I mean every single page on the internet is at risk. This bill is known as the "Stop Online Piracy Act" or SOPA. Alongside it is the "Protect IP Act" or PIPA. If these bills were passed then Uncle Sam would be able to block any website that contains something he dislikes. Such as copyrighted videos, games and even images.

There are many small republic institutions in America which support this act. Of course Hollywood is behind this act all the way since it protects their films from being distributed online for free. But many major companies like Microsoft are against it. Microsoft may benefit from it but in the long run it would find itself in a pickle.

This act might have some valid points to it but it takes itself to the extremes. Giving one entity the power to remove anything that doesn't strike their fancy off the internet is literally a virtual dictatorship. Imagine not being able to find important information anywhere, or have your own blog or videos deleted just because it doesn't comply with the U.S government, or even have your own website which you put so much work in taken down just because it had a picture of a movie on one of its pages.

In the end, even if this bill was passed, thieves and hackers can never be stopped. No matter how many laws are placed or warnings are spread, there will always be a way around. A backdoor which is kept hidden somewhere for us to find.
