Stage space for the memorandum:
For the memorandum I would use a stage called
a rotating stage which
is a mechanically controlled platform within a theatre that can be
rotated in order to speed up the changing of a scene within a play, or
if there are many different stages or scenes that need to be set, all
that is required is that the stage is setup and then simply turned
around quickly after the stage before it, for the audience, instead of
taking breaks and changing the scenes etc.
The following diagram on the right is a rotating stage:
Why I choose this stage is because I believe that for the memorandum where you have many different scenes taking place in different settings, for example in Sc.I the setting is in gross’s office and in sc.II it is taking place in a class room and in Sc.III its in the translation center and finally in Sc.IV its back again in gross’s office. A rotating stage takes approximately about 30 seconds to turn into a different scene setting, since the setting changes need to be swift, also there would be no need to set the same setting of a scene back again as you can simply turn it around and it will be already there.
The rotating stage can hold or carry about 600-700 kilos, which is why the objects should not be heavy, for example for Gross’s office cardboard or light-wood walls should be used light desks also, and if there is any heavy other object something light should be modified and presented in the scene as the original heavy object . When the scene is finished and the setting is to be changed, curtains are to be closed, and the theatre being behind the curtains for about thirty seconds to change, and then when the stage rotates to the wanted setting, the curtains are opened and the scene is set.
The scene changes will be carried out in the following order, there will be only 3 settings already put on the rotating stage : Gross’s office first meaning facing the audience the classroom after it or behind it and at last the translation center and for Sc.IV Gross’s office can be rotated back again as there are only three setting.
