Summary:

This book is about an adventurous expedition to the center of the earth, which

is lead throughout the story by Professor Lindenbrock, Axel and an Icelandic

guide called Hans. The professor finds a an old script in his book, he discovers a

hidden and coded message in the script by an Icelandic alchemist named Arne

Saknussemm, saying that he has been to the centre of the earth, and saying

how he did it. The lot go and try to follow the directions which they found, from

Germany (where they originally were) to Iceland where they find an extinct

volcano which they go in through, as they go on their journey under the earth’s

surface they face many mishaps such as being in a chamber filled with combustible

gas and face several prehistoric creatures.

Professor Lidenbrock embarks on one of the wildest adventures of

the nineteenth century: he travels to the earth’s very own core.

He penetrated the earth’s most discrete secrets, they discover an

astonishing prehistoric discovery of extinct dinosaurs that still live and

are well under the earth’s surface. Jules Verne’s imaginative tale is

the ultimate science fiction adventure, and shows us that there is no

limit to what humans can achieve and that there are still secrets of the

earth to unravel. This novel has been read by millions of inquisitive

minds throughout the world, and has even influenced some of the

worlds’ most famous explorers.
