Adele – An Incredible Voice

Astoundingly breaking the record by selling the most albums in a single year, Adele is a Grammy award-winning, 23 year old British singer-songwriter who I believe is one of the most truly talented and exceptional singers at the moment. Her album ‘21’, which includes songs like ‘Someone Like You’, ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and 'Set Fire to the Rain', has sold more than 13 million copies worldwide in 2011 alone.

To me, Adele definitely stands out unambiguously from the rest of today’s artists, as she possesses this remarkable ability that no other music artist really does – she can actually sing. Adele's music may not be my personal favourite to listen to, but I love watching her live performances as they can barely be lived up to by hardly any other artist (vocal-wise), and they genuinely show her pure talent. Her almost flawless live performances are amazing, as she sings with so much soul and essence through her intense and powerful voice, leaving spectators astonished and causing the hairs to rise on the backs of their necks. While singing she conveys her lyrics with so much passion, and a great deal of emotion reverberates throughout the room, as she makes you sincerely believe every single word with so much depth that you’re almost compelled to willingly stand up and applaud. So frankly, all Adele simply needs to do to earn herself a standing-ovation is to merely stand in one place and overwhelmingly belt the heck out of a song. That’s it.

No props, no gimmicks – just sheer talent. Those are the words that genuinely describe her performances, as she's a singer that I truly admire and believe is one of the most universally embraceable and gifted artists in contemporary soul and pop music.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !

My dear students I hope that this break has made you reflect on all we have been through this past year....

We must never forget our martyrs nor our veterans.. for they are the reason we are alive to practice this newly found freedom which will hopefully lead to a democratic Libya.

On another note some of you have either published or sent in their posts while others have not.I said before and now repeat that the posts are part of your assignments and those who fail to not send in will be regarded as having not completely fulfilled the task given them.......

I now would like to wish you and your families the best for the coming year....

 Happy New Year !

 Blessings

Ever since I could remember, I have always wanted to play guitar. Guitar has always interested me, ever since I heard a friend play expertly in front of me.

My first guitar was from a small guitar shop right by my house. Of course I wanted the most expensive and coolest looking guitar in the entire shop. However, my parents knew better and made me choose between a cherry red and a dark blue guitar. I chose the cherry red guitar as it was, at the time, my favorite color.

Learning how to play guitar was by all means not easy at all. The first thing I had to learn was how to read sheet music. At first, I could not understand how to read sheet music, as it was my first time playing a guitar. It took me countless times to memorize each note for each string and for each fret. Plus, I also had to know how to associate each note on paper for each note on my guitar. As well, I had to learn how to keep in tempo to the beat of each song I was learning at the time. However, my teacher often was impressed that I could keep the tempo. This made him seperate me from the rest of the group.

The next thing I learned was how to read guitar tablature. Learning tablature is considerably easier to understand and learn. However, in order for me to comprehend tablature I took my own initiative to learn and understand it better than from what my teacher taught me. With tablature, I learned new songs and I even wrote my own songs, to my favorite genre, blues.

Another thing that I have learned from playing guitar was to keep on trying again and again until I accomplish what I attend to do. For playing guitar, this required me to keep playing the same songs, riffs, or chords over and over again, until I can memorize and play the particular part. This demanded a lot of time, but I still kept my grades up to my parent's high standards and still managed to have time for my friends.

IRIS

IRIS
'And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now'
'These are only a few of the lines from one of the best love songs (or any genre for that matter) ever written. Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls has true feelings in every line, and with that there is not a single moment that goes by where the feeling of love isn’t overwhelming (in a good way) and powerful.
'And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
And sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight'
These mighty lyrics were written for the movie 'just like heaven' where an angle falls inlove with the women he's supposed to be protecting.
These lyrics not only fit the movie but they also fit any love story, because no matter how strong your feelings are towards your partner/lover/spouse 'sooner or later its over' be it a break up or a tragic death. The love is simply lost.
'And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am'
The very well put chorus, can easy move any heart, to a point where, you'd wish you can find love this compelling, beautiful and pure. 'When everything's meant to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.' To think that no matter what, you’re the only person in someones eyes, you’re the only thing that matters to that person, you’re the only one that’s important and would do anything to protect you and your imagine is a feeling so supreme that the human mind and heart can only imagine. I for one would love for this to happen, for soul mates to unite as one.
'And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive.'
This paragraph is my favorite part of the song. To think that your so madly in love with someone it feels like the movies, is simply magical. Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive. WOW!
Does love like this really exist? Have you ever met a couple and there love story is THAT beautiful and well said?? Because honestly, no matter how hard I try to imagine love like that seems like just a fantasy.

LOVE: is it really as good as the movies?

I have recently fallen in love with this new song called "iris" by Goo Goo Dolls. Although i've heard that song MILLIONS of times before, once ever acouple of years i fall in love with it all over again.
it could be from " and i would give up forever to touch you" to the actual sound track but that song could easily bring you to tears, EASILY, esp. after like a really horrible day.

Does love like that truly exist? I mean i'm totally one for love stories but have you ever heard two people truly falling in love and never falling out of it? All real life love stories have a part that breaks your heart. Maybe one partner cheated or one of them dyed or something with a tragic ending.

Lets be real for a minute here. Songs and movies put SUCH HIGH EXPECTATIONS for love that i bet if i ever fall in love i wouldn't even know its love because its nothing like the movies, so why do people write such beautiful love stories when no guy could live up to its expectations, i mean im the girl and i find it hard to believe someone like that exists, how hard must it be for the guys when THERE the ones expected to be that sweet and amazing???

SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN: why do real life love stories suck compared to the ones we hear or watch? I mean i for one which my love was like the movie Titanic just without the sad ending, i want my love to last forever :)

ACOUPLE of weekends back

HEYYAAA :) so it has been one of the most horrible weekends known to man kind.
Let me just start off by saying i did nothing but hang out with my FAMILY, FAMILY OW AND SOME MORE FAMILY! I mean yes being with your family is important but thats whats the hole week is for, the weekend is for hanging out with the people you actually chose to love then have to love, A.K.A FRIENDS, BEST FRIENDS for that matter!

GOSH were do i being?  Hmmm, lets start off with Thursday:
I had to go to my NINE year old cousins birthday party, my dad didn't come home till bout eight so i didn't actually go to this "party" till it was just bout to end. I missed out on everything ( luckily enough NOT THE CAKEE! YUMMMMMMM!! ) Yaa i will admit chilling around with my cousin Aya ( who's sixteen not the nine year old lol)  was actually fun because that girl has got all the gossip you can think of (props even more) but when you've spent all day in school by the time ten o'clock comes you're already smashed and all you want to do is just sleeeeepp.

Friday:
i woke up at ten, yes TEN, i mean its the weekend ten shouldn't even exist as waking up time, honestly sometimes its the time u actually get to sleep rather then anything :) but noooo my brain was sick of sleeping and it simply said "Mariam Swehli, get your bum out of bed." No matter how much i tried to refuse this action, technically my brain does control every part of my body, so i was up in a heartbeat ( actually not really it toke me about forty minutes to get out of bed.) From two in the afternoon ( the time i usually wake up) and onwards all i did, was simply text. I had to wait till around five till some type of action got into this very dull day, i straighten my sister in laws hair :). Now i know how boring can you get but honestly when u spent all day looking after your cute but VERY loud nephew you'll understand that doing someones hair is actually a lot funnier then it seems and quitter for that matter. Oww yes seven o'clock has finally arrived, Ayas back with some more juicy gossip *heart heart*, my cute little cousins have appeared ( one of them only likes me because im the only one in the family that will allow her to use my lipstick, now i know, i know "shes only two she's too young for all of this", but bloody hell she is proper cute and i would really do anything to get her to love me! )
For the rest of the night me and Aya spent most of it upstairs in my room trying to figure out what dress i should wear to my aunties baby shower ( which BTW i didn't even end up going to because my dad decided to bring some guests over for dinner and me and my mum got stuck in a sticky situation, well mostly my mum but i wasn't allowed to go out either :( )

FINALLY Saturday:
i woke up to Sofian calling me telling me to get to school and go with everyone to the orphanage, i almost killed him when i realised it was eleven o'clock and i couldn't get back to bed afterwards. I tried moving my neck but this unbelievably painful feeling stopped me from doing do, OMG my neck was killing me! i go downstairs trying to move my neck slowly slowly i get to a point where honestly if i moved my neck anymore i think i would of ripped  something. Gosh what a day i realised i had to do a lot of homework (this including) and honestly wasn't really bothered to but i had to (after watching a couple of movies of course XD) Ugh so now im sitting in bed at ten to ten about to pass out hopping that no matter how boring my weekend was at least someone, somewhere had a bit of fun for the both of us (and honestly, hopping that someone, somewhere had more boring weekend XD )
Cheers to the freaken weekend & i drink to that yaya (song my Rihanna fyi) Xxx.

NEWWW YEARRSS :)

WHAT A YEARR EYY!! 2011 has been the weirdest experience of any Libyan, although I will admit I sadly wasn’t in the country when nato came to the rescue, however being in the country or not, the feeling of pride you get when your country has finally risen to the challenge was one that can never EVER be forgotten. Heres the thing though, did any of YOU think that we would actually make it??? That Gaddafi once and for all when DIE and beautiful Libya will be LIBERATED?? Coz I sure as hell didn’t.
It started off with Tunis, massallah the guy that started all of this, lets just hope he's in heaven. After that it completely went over Libya and Egypt decided to take action. DAMN! I thought that was it, our chance of being free was over L but heyyy FEB 17 came to the rescue! And Bengazi started the civil war to freedom. So all the cities started to take action and take back what's rightfully theirs. MISSSUURRAAATTTAAA J oww yess im a very VERY proud Misuratie, I think its safe to say that Misurata did help out a lot. I mean did anyone see that Syrian lady on the news? "Either bring us nato or towar Misurata!" WOOPP WOOPP. Although I am not one to give credit for my own city and ignore the rest. Every beautiful part of Libya had its tough times and they all rose to the challenge. ALLAHO AKBAR J. YAHH im a proud Libyan. Who would of thought the new years of 2011, that yaa "this year Gaddafi is going to finally be gone with??" Honestly, I think I can safely say NO ONE! Oww wee really owe it to the towar, ppl. A lot gave there life for freedom and more lost a part of their body for this, as the rest of us sat on our bums eating and praying that Libya titharrar. But is that enough? Not think soooo! I believe that everyone that reads this should have THIS one of there new year revolution : go visit a tawar. Let them know your unbelievably thankful for what they have done, because honestly these people need the support and love each and everyone of us has to give. HAPPY NEW YEARSS EVERYONE! And may 2012 a year full of joy, happiness and FUN J.

THE TRAGEDY OF HAMLET

THE TRAGEDT OF HAMLET

The play hamlet was first staged in 1600. Hamlet, one of the most critiqued or commented upon works of literature in its delineation of personality and its portrayal of inwardness. Hamlet is one of Shakespeare’s four main tragedies. In the play, we witness how hamlet is confronted from early on with a huge moral dilemma. He is ordered to avenge the murder of his father. Claudius, the king of Denmark and hamlet’s uncle, is a corrupt monarch who has attained the thrown by murdering his own brother. Hamlet is unable to appeal to law or justice as Claudius is the law and represents justice through his rule as a monarch. The story of Polonius the mayor and his two children, Laertes and Ophelia, form the subject of the plot. Both plots merge at different stages throughout this play, and, as in all Shakespeare’s tragedies.

The plot of the play is centred on the death of old hamlet, former king of Denmark. Old hamlets brother immediately succeeds to the thrown and proceeds to marry Gertrude, old hamlets widow and the mother of young hamlet. The atmosphere is rife with suspicion and corruption. The court is filled with lies, infidelity, and corruption. There are hints of war and revolution from outside Denmark, while the servants realize the appearance of old hamlets ghost brings omens of revenge and destruction coming from the other world of purgatory. From the moment when young hamlet meets with his father Old Hamlet ,who tells him to revenge his foul ,unnatural murder by his brother Claudius ,the play moves speedily to its tragic and dramatic conclusion.
At the beginning of the final scene, hamlet is telling Horatio his best friend; how he managed to discover the plot on his life through the letters that were given to his two school friends, he was travelling with them, since he was forced to travel with them due to his uncles detestation towards him. And, how he changed the commission and organised the deaths of his two friends instead. Therefore, when hamlet returns Horatio informs him that he is strained to fight a battle against laertes son of Polonius, since Hamlet has killed his father. Claudius, meanwhile, has put some poison in a large chalice of wine and he has arranged for laertess sword to be tipped with poison .During the duel Laertes losses his sword, Hamlet picks it up and wounds Laertes with it. Laertes also wounds hamlet with the poisoned sword ,so both men are in mortal danger. Meanwhile, Gertrude drinks to her son from the poisoned chalice. When Laertes realises that he has been fatally wounded and is about to die he repents of his crime and asks forgiveness from Hamlet. Laertes then tells Hamlet about the poison and the sword and the fact that Claudius is culpable .Hamlet reacts violently by attacking Claudius and killing him with the poisoned sword, while at the same time and forcing him to drink from the chalice.
The scene concludes with words from the dying hamlet, telling Horatio to inform young Fortinbras that he must take control of the king ship of Denmark. Hamlet also urges Horatio to remain alive and inform the Danish people about the truth .Therefore Fortinbras arrives and orders that the body of hamlet should be carried away like a brave solider to be buried.

LIBYAN UPRISING

LIBYAN UPRISSING
It all began on the 15th of February as it was preceded by the protesters in Benghazi, which lead to clashes with the security forces that fired straight towards them . In the evening of that dreadful day over 500 demonstrators protested in front of the courthouse (Headquarters) in Benghazi after hearing the arrest of the lawyer Fathi Terbil. However, the security forces violently broke up the demonstration resulting with 40 injured and several dead .The protests spread throughout Libya, initially starting in Bayda ,Zintan, Derna, Ajdabia then all the other cities .They all rose against the ruthless Gaddafi regime calling for an end to it. As the protesters were annoyed yet extremely disappointed, they set police and security buildings on fire. On the following day, the armed protests took place in many city-states. Therefore, the security forces responded fiercely against them. Later in February, it was reported that Gaddafi’s government had restrained protests in Tripoli by distributing automobiles, money, and weapons for hired followers to drive around Tripoli and attack people showing signs of dissent. In Tripoli, mercenaries shot people who even tried to gather in groups.
The Libyan rebels had no choice but to fight Gaddafi’s regime, with well trained yet well armed soldiers with various weapons such as snipers, artilleries, helicopter gunships, warplanes, anti-aircraft weaponries, and warships. However the rebels are civilians that work as teachers, students, lawyers, doctors as well as soldiers that were defected from the Libyan Army and joined the rebels. The rebels got their weapons by either making them from old weapons they find or heavy weapons they capture off the security forces during their battles. Gaddafi's regime had repeatedly asserted that the rebels included al-Qaeda fighters. NATO commanders stated that there might be al Qaeda fighters helping the rebels out. However, they added that there is no sufficient information to confirm that.
After fierce fighting the rebels finally entered Tripoli after a brutal clash with Gaddafi’s security forces, however Gaddafi was nowhere to be found in Tripoli. The fighting turned back to Sirte even before the rebels fully consolidated control of Tripoli. In September, rebels took Gaddafi’s second stronghold of Bani Walid after fierce fighting which lasted for weeks. The NTC conquered Gaddafi’s first strong hold of Sirte on 20th of October, and reported that Gaddafi himself had been killed in the city battle. Which ended 42years he held in power.
Nine months of ferocious fighting, finally on the 23rd of October the NTC announced the ‘liberation of libya’.Today all Libyans should be united in order to rebuild a state based on democracy and justice. One of the main issues that will happen for the first time in Libya’s history is to have free elections for a new elected government. All Libyans should never forget what we sacrificed in order to get our freedom, indeed, especially in this transitional period it needs the corporation of all Libyan citizens to rebuild a new Libya, and look forward for a better future for our beloved country…

A Farewell to 2011

We can all agree that 2011 has definitely been a year filled with an extensive diversity of achievements, tragedies and historic events that we will devotedly remember and cherish for the rest of our lives. From the uprising of numerous Arab nations against their iniquitous dictators in the Arab Spring, to countless natural disasters that took place in many countries around the world which included many devastating earthquakes, tsunamis and floods, we can definitely say that 2011 has overall been an extremely wild and hectic year for all of us.

Enraged over soaring unemployment and corruption, this year commenced with Tunisian protesters driving President Zaine el-Abdine bin-Ali from power after 23 years of his iron-fisted rule. As a result, a wave of unrest sparked by the Tunisian revolution struck neighbouring Arab countries such as Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Syria, Bahrain, Jordan and Yemen, many of them succeeding while others were restrained forcefully by their government. To me personally, the Libyan revolution was unquestionably the most significant event that occurred this year, with many fearless and courageous individuals who suffered and lost their lives while fighting devotedly for the liberty and contentment they deserved in their country. These triumphant revolutions have definitely made vast changes as well as an immeasurable impact on our lives, hopefully starting a new era of boundless freedom and happiness across the Arab world.

Nevertheless, 2011 has also suffered a number of unfortunate tragedies that have taken place in many parts of the world causing many deaths and loss of homes, including earthquakes in New Zealand and Chile, as well as powerful tornadoes that struck many parts of America and a flood in Thailand. However Japan experienced the most unfortunate disaster of them all, when a vigorous earthquake and a consequential tsunami struck its north-eastern coast, a combined disaster that killed tens of thousands of innocent people and caused one of the world’s worst nuclear disasters.

Furthermore, the deaths of many key figures were also major occurrences this year, and although some deaths had been a disappointment, others we were delighted to say goodbye to. The so-called face of global terrorism, Osama bin-Laden, was killed earlier this year in May, where he was found in his compound in Pakistan and was shot dead by American forces. The co-founder of Apple Inc, Steve Jobs also died this year at 56 while battling a rare form of pancreatic cancer, as well as singer Amy Whinehouse, who was found dead in her home in London, at the age of 27. However, the most talked-about incident of 2011 was probably the death of former leader Muammar al-Gaddafi who was killed after 42 years of his brutal rule over Libya by his own people after being caught hiding in a sewage pipe - how ironic...

After an extremely prolonged and nerve-racking year that many of us have had in Libya, we can all reflect back on 2011 as being a year of victory and success, despite all of the difficulties we have gone through. Many of us have even lost loved ones during these events, who we will never forget and will cherish their memories for the rest of our lives. But now we all have to realise that the clock is ticking down the hours, until 2011 will eventually just become a distant memory in our minds. This year has definitely had its highs and its lows but it is now behind us, and all we can do is hope for the best and be optimistic for what is to come in 2012.

“We will open a book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.” Edith L. Pierce

Wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year <3

My 4rth & Last Blog.

Success

What Is Success..?

-Success is truly living, struggling to survive is not living.

Success is many things to many people. Worldbook defines success as a favorable
result or wished for ending through the achievement of goals. That is, if one
attains a desired goal through achievement, he would be considered a success.
However, a successful character, cannot be produced from one successful feat.
The true indicator of success is not what is accomplished, but what is felt. In
order to be successful, one must be happy.
You really can take control of your life
and succeed. Unfortunately life does not come with a manual. Most people
struggle through life and wonder why they never get anywhere. You do not
have to be one of them.
Everyone wants
success.
People talk about setting goals and positive thinking and getting to
the top. However, most of these same people never really define what success
means to them. Instead they think only in terms of the next big promotion or
the next raise or climbing the corporate ladder, but few ever stop to really
look at where these goals are taking them.
Problem is, it
doesn’t work that way. If happiness is your goal, if having been happy is
something you really want to see in the end zone of your life, then you have to
start being happy today. Not tomorrow, not in a week BUT ( TODAY ).
  • To laugh often and much
  • To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children
  • To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends
  • To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others
  • To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition
  • To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
  • This is to have succeeded.

It is time for you to play the game of life, accept the challenge and win.

Ladies first

These two words have an odd story that took place in Italy in the eighteenth century and that there was a young man from a rich family in one of the provinces of Italy fell in love with a girl from low class family but the young man family disapproved of the situation, threatening him by not bless this marriage and renouncing him.
The pressure and the correlative love between the young man and the girl grew up and so both decided that what separates them should be nothing but death, and agreed to suicide.
Both went to a very high cliff beside the sea, the girl decided to jump first, but the young man prevented that with a pretext that he can not see her die with his own eyes and decided to jump first and he actually jumped, fell and died (what a moron!!!).
when she saw the scene the girl changed her mind and betrayed and abandoned the young man to accompany him in death and returned to the town and married someone else from her class and betrayed her lover, who sacrificed himself for what he believed in.
When the people of the village knew about what happened, they decided that ladies should always be first.

                                              Weapons in Libya

Gathering the weapons in Libya is a very hard task and it needs a lot of
time because many people are saving their weapons in their farms
under the ground so in the future they will sell them in the
Black market. I also noticed that guns are everywhere, last week
I went to play football in my neighborhood, I saw a child between
10 and 8 years old was playing with 9mm Beljici un and I am pretty
sure its loaded because when I left my house I heard gunfire, so
I think the National transition Council have a very hard mission.
I think the National transition Council should give money for the
people who hand over their weapons(1000L.D. for a klashenkof,
3000L.D. for PKT, 5000L.D. for the antiaircraft) in this way many people
will hand over their guns and leave the military life and go back to their
normal life. They should start collecting the weapons quickly because
everyday many people are dyeing and some think that every problem
wont  be solved only by using bullets. I wish our country comes back as
before but with a better taste, the taste of freedom.

                                                                       Amazigh

This is the flag that represents Amazigh blue, green, yellow and the
letter Z in amazigh language in the middle of the flag.
The blue represents the sea, the green represents the mountains, the
yellow is the desert and the letter in the middle means Z in Amazigh,
Z comes from the word AZOL which  means PEACE, the flag means
peace from the sea to the desert. In the ancient times Amazigh people
were the majority in North Africa by the Muslim conquests we
became the minority because many people stopped using the Amazigh language and started practicing the Arabic language because it’s the language of Quran. All Amazigh people are Muslims even the ones who
use the Amazigh language as their main language are Muslims.
In opinion Amazigh people in Libya should have their
complete rights in this new era because they are the original Libyans
and they sacrificed as all Arab Libyans sacrificed in the 17Feb
revolution so we should be equal in all ways.

                                                        The legend

Diego Armando Maradona is an Argentine football player, born
30-10-1960 in a small city in Argentine called Lanus.
The way he plays, his strength, dribbling skills and how he controls
The ball made many football critics and players consider him as the
Greatest football player ever. I noticed when Maradona plays a match
The score is often a goal by Maradona or an assists by him which allowed
His teammate to Score a goal.

                                          The Merchant Of Venice

The merchant of Venice was written by William Sheksper between
the years 1596 and 1598 and it was preformed in the theaters in the year
1600. William Sheksper had classfied the Merchant Of Venice as a comedy
but I think it should by classified as a romantic Story because all it talks
about is love and marriage I didn’t find any Comedy in it except when
my classmates start  to make fun of the Characters.
Summarization:
The merchant of Venice talks about a group of friends, Antonio, Lorenzo,
Gratiano, Solanio, Salarino and Salerio who are helping their friend
Bassanio who is in love with Portia. Portia is a rich and beautiful heiress
Who is obeying her fathers well which gives an opportunity to men who
Are in love with Portia to choose between three caskets composed of
gold, silver and lead. If they choose the right casket – the casket
containing Portia's portrait – they win Portia's hand in marriage.
If they choose the wrong casket, they must leave and never seek another
woman in marriage. I think bassanio loves Portia for her money not
For herself, but there is still one problem for Bassanio to go and meet
Portia its an amount of money 3000 ducats, so he goes to his friend
Antonio and asks him to lend him this amount of money but Antonio says
He can’t because he sent all of his ships and merchandise to some kind
Of business but he told Bassanio to find another lender and he will
Pay him when his ships come back. Bassanio then finds a lender, shylock
Shylock hates Antonio very much but he agrees to lend the money to
Bassanio but with one condition if Antonio doesn’t bring the money in a
specific time Shylock  will take one pound of Antonio’s flesh but
Antonio agrees. After al of this comes time for Bassanio to go and meet
Portia. In the same time Bassanios friend Lorenzo goes to meet Jessica
Shylock's daughter who is in love with her, he asks her to leave her father and come with him  and take all of his money and jewels, so Jessica Agrees . This had made Shylock angry from Antonio so he was waiting For the day Antonio comes to shylock and he says he can’t afford the money so he can take the pound of flesh from his heart .
One day Shylock heard that Antonio’s ships drowned in the sea so he took the contract to the trial and accused Antonio of taking money from him promising that he would pay him at a specific time but he didn’t. in the same time Antonio’s friend Bassanio reached Portia’s
Island to take the challenge to marry Portia. Nerrisa Portia’s servant informed her that Bassanio had arrived which made her very happy and excited welling that Bassanio would win the challenge and marry her.
At the challenge Bassanio had chosen the leader casket, and it was the correct one. Afterwards Bassanio heard about his friend Antonio and he told his wife Portia about him so she gave him 6000 ducats instead of 3000. when Bassanio reached the court he offered Shylock 6000 ducats but he refuses until Antonio’s lawyer come he was a young man in his 20s but the truth she is Portia wearing men clothes and a Fake mustache, as her uncle was a lawyer she learned from him many things so at last she forced Shylock to take the 6000 ducats and leave Antonio.

9/11 in my opinion

In my opinion I view 9/11 as a big cover up and a way to generate hate towards Islam. Prior to 9/11 Islam was starting to be more accepted around the world. After 9/11 if you were found wearing a hijab you would have been viewed as a terrorist.

Videos and reports from various people and companies show that the twin towers were going to collapse anyways, so the scenario used in 9/11 would have been a perfect way to cover-up what would have been a huge embarrassment to the United States of America. Furthermore it would have been a great way to get more support for the invasion on Iraq which they used “nuclear weapons” as an excuse to enter Iraq but found none. Iraq was a wealthy country rich in oil; America is the top consumer of oil in the world so oil would also have played a big part in the invasion.

I doubt Osama bin laden had anything to do with 9/11 but i do disagree with his thoughts and concepts. Because of him a bad image of Islam has been painted around the world. Many families have been ripped apart due to the anti-Islam agenda, people have died because they were Muslim. Osama bin laden plays a big part in the anti-Islam agenda as some people view him as the typical Muslim and view his thoughts as that of every Muslim but in fact only a minority of Muslims share the same thoughts.

Libya

My name is Jadallah Azooz El-Talhi and today I’m going to be writing my first blog entry. I’m Libyan and after all Libya’s been through lately I find it very fitting writing my first blog entry about my home country Libya.

Libya is located in northern Africa and is bordered by Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Chad, Sudan and Niger. Libya is one of the largest countries in Africa. Despite its size Libya is sparsely populated. The Sahara, the vast desert of northern Africa, covers much of the country. Nearly all of Libya’s inhabitants live near the coast. Tripoli, located on the Mediterranean coast, is the capital and largest city.

Most of Libya’s people are descended from a mixture of Berbers, the country’s original inhabitants, and Arabs, who arrived in the 7th century ad. Small numbers of Berbers still live in the extreme south of the country. The great majority of the people are Muslims, and Islam is the official state religion. Arabic is the official language.

Libya was a poor country until the discovery of oil in the 1950s. Since then its large reserves of petroleum have made Libya one of the wealthiest countries in Africa. Many of its people, however, still live by farming and grazing livestock, despite the extremely limited amount of good farmland.

The site of ancient Phoenician, Roman, and Arab settlements, Libya was colonized by Italy in the early 20th century. The country became an independent monarchy in 1951, and in 1969 young army officer Muammar al-Qaddafi seized power. Qaddafi proceeded to create a new Libya based on his theories of socialism and Arab nationalism. He renamed the country the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. The word Jamahiriya was coined by Qaddafi, who defines it as a state run by its entire people. Most outsiders viewed Libya as a military dictatorship, however.

In 2011, the colonel's autocratic government was brought to an end by a six-month uprising and ensuing civil war. The country is currently governed by the National Transitional Council that emerged from the rebellion and has pledged to turn Libya into a pluralist, democratic state.

Interesting facts about libya:

·      Libya has the highest literacy rate of any country in North Africa (82% of the population can read and write).
·      The Libyan Desert covers most of Libya. It is very arid and, in some places, it only rains once every 10 or more years!
·      It is illegal to consume alcohol in Libya.
·      Bread costs only $0.15 per loaf.
·      Libya does not owe money.
·      Libya boasts of 685,524 sq miles of territorial land and a population 0f 6.4 million, as per UN surveys of 2009.
·      Libya imports about 75% of its food.
·      Libya enjoys a Mediterranean, coastal dry and extreme desert interior climate.

'Gatsby, pale as death, with his hand plunged like weights in his coat pockets, was standing in a puddle of water glaring tragically into my eyes.'

It excited him, too, that may men had already loved daisy -it increased her value in his eyes.

So we drove on toward death throught the cooling twilight.

Walt Disney's Animations

Walt Disney was a pioneer in character animation. He was one of the first people to move away from basic cartoons with just "impossible outlandish gags" and crudely drawn characters to an art form with heartwarming stories and characters the audience can connect to on an emotional level. The personality displayed in the characters of his films and the technological advancements remain influential when animating today. He was also considered by many of his colleagues to be a master storyteller and the animation department did not fully recover from his demise until the late 1980s in a period known as the Disney Renaissance. The most financially and critically successful films produced during this time include Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992) and The Lion King (1994). In 1995, Walt Disney Pictures distributed Pixar's Toy Story, the first computer animated feature film. Walt Disney's nephew Roy E. Disney claimed that Walt would have loved Toy Story and that it was "his kind of movie". With the rise of computer animated films a stream of financially unsuccessful Traditional hand-drawn animated features in the early years of the 2000s (decade) emerged. This led to the company's controversial decision to close the traditional animation department. The two satellite studios in Paris and Orlando were closed, and the main studio in Burbank was converted to a computer animation production facility, firing hundreds of people in the process. In 2004, Disney released what was announced as their final "traditionally animated" feature film, Home on the Range. However, since the 2006 acquisition of Pixar, and the resulting rise of John Lasseter to Chief Creative Officer, that position has changed with the largely successful 2009 film The Princess and the Frog. This marked Disney's return to traditional hand-drawn animation and the studio hired back staff who had been laid-off in the past. Today, Disney produces both traditional and computer animation.
International School of Tripoli (or known as GEMS)

I bet that most of you actually stopped to read this (or the first few lines) just to see what I am going to say (or in this case write) but let me tell you from the start so not to disappoint you (my close friends pls don’t comment) and I am going to say it in the nicest possible way …………….our school ROCKS and yours SUCK.
There I said it BUT I did not write this post just to pick a fight but to change some students image of it and I have heard some unbelievable stories but I won’t go with the names.
I have heard that in IST they charge you with 50 L.D for throwing some covers on the floor and let me clear this they NEVER EVER did that and who do you think we are to get this money for every time we throw something .
This brings me to the next canard which says that most of the students there are pro-shafshofa and this is personally….ok we had pro-Geddaffi but not all of us (not even 30 % of us) and we are not many and if some of you guys have noticed that in one of the videos that have been shown in Libya Al Ahrar channel in June shows a car that have the school car pass on the right and the camera man says what geddaffi was doing and the car was passing the sea road when 2 men from al kata2eb stopped the car and then the camera fell on the floor but was still working and we have heard them shouting and then someone picks the camera and stops it and let me say that I am sure (thought hope I am wrong) that the 2 guys are killed because it was in a sensitive period .
Last rumor that says that we work with fingerprints in the canteen (cafeteria) and for GOD SAKE who do you think we are (again).
I am sure that most of you are furious by now (if you have read the whole thing) but to make it up IST made a HUGE unforgivable and unforgettable mistake which is that it closed in the beginning of the events and did not answer the phone/email/door (gate) and gave us no clue on what to do nor returned the money or paid the teachers and it was cheap of them unlike ISM that welcomed us to do the final exams there (believe it or not I said it).
Overall IST is like my second home where I made amazing and unique friends, where we did not care if someone was not cool or have bad English as we were like a big family and the good thing of ISM is ……………………………..well right now I cant think of any but I will let you know when I find any.

April Showers

''April showers'' is an American film based on a true but devastating story set on Jefferson High School on the 20th of April 1999 and it's upcoming days. This movie directed by Andrew Robinson(who was a senior at the school at the time of the shooting) has captivated the hearts of many and brought them to tears as individuals lost their friends weeks before their graduation. This story starts out as a ordinary school day that gets twisted into a nightmare filled with violence.

It was a normal and enjoyable day at Jefferson High School and student Sean Ryan played by Kelly Blatz was with friends when the unexpected happens ,a shooting starts and mayhem begins.Shocked and panicked the students race to the exit not knowing what's going on.Since the exit seems to have been occupied ,Sean and his friends charge to the back of the school which is blocked by fences while other students desperately try to climb it Sean and his friends grab a chair and break through then everyone dashes to escape.

Back at the school a teacher named Martin Blackwell played by Tom Arnolds is surrounded with his students and informs them of his plan. They will run to the exit not looking back and he will be behind them ensuring they reach the exit safely. This plan works only until the shooters hit Martin Blackwell and one of the students stays behind helping the teacher and the situation leads them back to the room. While Sean desperately attempts to find April ,played by co-star Ellen Woglom,he saves a classmate but is soon informed of April's death.By now the school is surrounded by police and ambulances.
Back at the school Martin Backwell thanks the student for helping him and takes his last breath watching his family photos and the student is saved by policemen.

The students mourn for their lost friends and try to adjust back to their normal lives and leave behind them all that occurred which caused the death of twelve students ,one teacher and wounded twenty-three people. The students try to make sense of this tragedy that turned their life around and will haunt them forever. They then were notified that that the two shooters were students themselves. The shooters committed suicide at the scene of the mayhem..
